it’s the first one. double quotation marks are only used when the character has directly said something aloud for others to hear. an internal dialogue means your inner thoughts as in you’re speaking to yourself in your head, therefore there are no double quotation marks for those.

I agree with razan the first one will be correct because as far as I know internal dialogues only use single quotations
