Mean, median and mode are known as measures of central tendency.

A measure of central tendency is used to know the central value of a data. Mean is the average of a data set. Median is the number that occurs at the centre of a data set. Mode is the number that appears most frequently in a data set.

It does not make sense to calculate the measures of central tendency for ordinal scales because if the measures are calculated it doe not have any value that can be used in interpreting and better understanding the information
