It is important to note that the ISTE standards as well as the UNESCO ICT policies are all founded by non-profit organizations, and aimed at improving student's computer learning capabilities.

However, in contrast to the ISTE standard, the UNESCO (The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization)  ICT International Competency Framework is made of policies drafted in other to help teachers in countries of the world efficiently disseminate ICT education to their students.

We also see a contrast in terms of their year of establishment, the ISTE (The International Society for Technology in Education) was founded in 1979, while UNESCO was established in 1945; which makes UNESCO the oldest organization.
