Progress was made in the treatment of disease between 1700- the present day germ theory science and technology because scientists did much research in different fields and different countries.

French scientists Louis Pasteur and German scientists Robert Kotch were two of the most important figures of his tie in the 1800s who developed the Germ theory, recognizing that all kinds of microorganism attack or invade the human body, affecting its health. These microorganisms are so small that cannot be seen through the naked eye, but with the help of microscopes.

There is another great individual named Joseph Lister, and English scientists, who in 1860 used carbonic acid in surgeries, in order to separate germs. Years later, Professor Lister did further research and found the microorganism that affected the human body and caused cholera. He also discovered the one that produced tuberculosis. These were major advancements in modern medicine.
