The bolded lines show that they don't understand that she feels different. She doesn't feel confused because we know that she knows how they feel and what they think. She isn't afraid, there is no signs of her being scared in this sentence. She isn't underestimated because they say she's good to have around. They never say she doesn't have as much skill or whatever than them. They think highly of her, they just don't understand how she's feeling.
