1) Factoring out common factors. If each term in the polynomial shares a common factor.
Ex: 6x^2+3x = 3x(2x+1)
2) The sum-product pattern. If the polynomial is of the form x^2+bx+c and there are factors of c that add up to b.
Ex: x^2+7x+12 = (x+3) (x+4)
3) The grouping method. If the polynomial is in the form ax^2+bx+c and there are factors of ac that add up to b.
Ex: 2x^2+7x+3 = (x+3) (2x+1)
