You can help children learn to protect themselves by asking them questions such as the following:


• “What should you do if a neighbor wants to give you a ride or invite you to his or her house?”

• “What can you do if a neighbor gives you a sloppy kiss?”

• “What can you do if a relative pats you on the bottom?”

• “What can you do if someone places a hand under your clothes?”

• “What should you do if the babysitter told you to take off your clothes?”

• “What can you do if someone touches you in a way you don’t like?”

• “What should you do if an adult or older child wants you to play a secret game?”

• “What should you do if someone wants to touch or see your private body parts?”
