In Act II, Scene 3, of The Diary of Anne Frank, Mrs. Frank has awoken to discover Mr. Van Daan stealing food from the pantry. A heated argument ensues, revealing behaviors in some characters that we have not seen up to this point. Consider the following quote from this scene: “We don’t need the Nazis to destroy us. We are destroying ourselves.” In your journal, identify the speaker of this quote, discuss its meaning, and explain whether or not you agree with it. Answer:  The character that might have said this quote was the father of  Anne Frank Otto Frank. In his statement I think he meant that if we keep bickering and arguing we are going to bring ourselves to destruction which basically means we are the true enemies to ourselves.I do agree with this statement because Mr.Frank was kind of like the glue in the Secret Annex whenever it started to get heated up he cooled it down.So I know he knows what he is doing.
