The current host of The Daily Show, Trevor Noah is a South African who was born during a time when the Apartheid system was in effect in the country. The Apartheid system meant that whites, blacks, coloreds and even Indians were separated based on their racial classification.

Trevor was born to a white Swiss father and a black Xhosa South African mother and this was not allowed so they had to hide his biracial/ colored identity. Colored people did not receive the same benefits as white people but were still considered higher in the social order than black people.

This meant that even though Trevor Noah did not received the same treatment as whites, he was still privileged. An example of this was in his own family. His grandmother would administer corporal punishment to her other grandchildren but never to Trevor Noah because she was scared of damaging his skin.

He also received other privileges from her as well as other family members because as a colored, he was considered superior to the rest of his black family.
