LInguists agree the ability to speak a language sets humans apart from other animals because we can invent languages, borrow words from other languages and use abstract terms including past and future. These are all things which enable people to communicate and which isn't the case in other species.
I believe the answer is: borrow words from other languages and use abstract terms including past and future.
Other animals generally have a universal way to communicate with the rest of the species, but the scope of their communication is very limited
Since humans has way higher intelligence compared to other animals, we managed to develop a language system that make us able to communicate wide variety of events., whether it's in the past , current time, or the future.
