In 1992, as he was running for president, Bill Clinton stated that NAFTA would result in an increase in the number of high quality jobs for Americans and that it would reduce illegal immigration.
NAFTA is a free trade agreement with an essentially economic character, which does not provide for the circulation of people by the countries that are part of the bloc.
The main objective with the creation of NAFTA was to reduce or eliminate trade barriers between the three countries that make up North America, which are USA, Canada and Mexico.
In this context, what President Bill Clinton declared was nothing more than the benefits of the free market.
According to this logic, NAFTA would be beneficial to the US because it would lower the cost of products, increase the number of jobs and boost US exports to Mexico and Canada, making the country richer.
