Many of the original English colonists were religious separatists from the Church of England (i.e., the Pilgrims in Plymouth and the Puritans in Massachusetts Bay Colony). Why were these groups eager to settle colonies in North America? A. The Puritan and Pilgrim religious doctrines call for isolationism. B. religious freedom and financial opportunities C. Both the Puritans and the Pilgrims were captive slaves of the colonial settlers. D. as punishment by the King of England

Respuesta :

The answer is B. While they were not necessarily physically forced to leave England, the Pilgrims and Puritans came to America to escape religious persecution. They wanted religious freedom and to be able to create a society where they could live by the rules they believe God set for them. I would like to point out, however, that while the Pilgrims wanted to separate completely from the Church of England, the Puritans wanted to reform the church, ultimately hoping to return to it when it more closely followed their own beliefs. That is the main difference between the two groups.
Religious freedom and financial opportunites, so B.
