The most important thing is consoling them, but still realizes the signs when they want to be alone and just mourn. From personal experience with grief I can say that it is a person to person thing so don't tress out too much about certain details, but still try to help the person, It can be through talks about things that will get there mind off of hat they are grieving over, making them laugh, even sending out care packages to that person of you and theirs best memories together or writing to them. Don't overthink being there for someone. Always stand by who ever is going through a rough time in their life because you never know when you'll need a shoulder to cry on.
