Look at the periodic table. Why can’t you find water (H2O), table salt (NaCl), or rust (Fe2O3) on the periodic table?

Respuesta :

Explanation:

The periodic table is a list of elements which are arranged by their atomic number.

Water, table salt and rust are not elements. They are compounds which contains more than one element in them. For such compounds, we cannot use the atomic number to easily categorize them.

  • This is why the periodic table shows the symbol of each individual element.
  • And the arrangement is based on the atomic number.
