authors use direct characterization to describe characters directly. the author specifically states a fact or characteristic about the character.
Example: Charlie is aggressive. This is direct characterization. I state the fact directly
Example: Charlie fought the other boys often. this is indirect characterization, because you have to infer that Charlie is aggressive.
