Building the transcontinental railroad was certainly not an easy task. The Central Pacific started to run out of money soon after they started, not even being able to afford the first forty miles of the track. Almost all of the necessary materials for construction had to be shipped around South America, which caused delay. Workers were hard to find, until Chinese immigrants, who were eager to take the job.
