PLEASEE HELP ME
Roland’s remote control boat has a max speed of 25 miles per hour. How many miles can Roland’s boat travel in 1/3 of an hour?

Respuesta :

Rolands boat can travel 8 and 1/3 miles per 1/3 of an hour.

We can set this problem up as a ratio (or as a proportional type of problem).

When somebody is traveling 25 miles per hour, for every hour passed they have rode (or driven) 25 miles. This ratio can be set up as 25:1. We want to get it to where the 1 in the ratio is 1/3 because we want it to be 1/3 of an hour.

When dealing with ratios, you always want to do one thing on both sides of it is ever changed. In this case we want to get 1 to 1/3. To get 1 to 1/3 we need to DIVIDE by 3 because 3 will be under 1, therefore 1/3.

The ratio will look like 25:1/3 WHEN IT IS INCOMPLETE. We then need to remember we need to do everything on one side to the other, therefore we need to divide 25 by 3 which will give us 8.333333 or 8 and 1/3 (8 1/3)
