Answer: In this poem, the speaker describes book burning, a common method of censorship in which people set fire to books they object to on political, cultural, or religious grounds. They do it because they don´t believe or want to believe in those things. I believe Kurt Vonnegut (I think he wrote the poem) he wrote that letter to his teacher asking how he would feel if someone burned one of his books which he worked hard on. Like Kurt had worked hard on his book.
