Well, both photosynthesis and cellular respiration occur in plant cells.  Even though both of these functions occur in plant cells, photosynthesis only occurs with light, and cellular respiration can happen at any given time.

Explanation:

If cellular respiration were to stop happening, there would be no conversion of food into energy.  If photosynthesis stopped happening, plants would not convert light into energy.  Both of these functions give plants energy an without them, there would be no plants on our planet.
