7X +5Y=4600

there are a few ways to solve this , i"m just going to multiply the first equatlion by 7 and the subtract  the 2nd  from that whole equation.

7(X +Y=800)

7X +7Y = 5600

-(7X +5Y =4600)

0X +2Y = 1000

Y  = 500   ( 500 children went to the movies )

by inspection  you can probably see that 300 adults had to go too

300 parents

also that's 4600 dollars to let those people in

7(300) + 5(500) = 4600
