I (kenny) would be irritated and annoyed that my brother continually treats me unwell and goes without punishment or chastisement. It is all By's fault that the brothers have to visit Grandma Sands. However, even though I would be annoyed by his attitude and actions, I would still love him as a brother because unlike the rest of the world, I know he has a soft side and isn't as horrible as he seems. I might feel unseen or ignored due to the radical and rebellious behavior my brother exhibits. Throughout the book the boys get closer and both are shown to be more than the cliche mean older brother/ bullied little brother. In the book, multiple circumstances bring out qualities in both of the boys that make them more relatable and likeable in general.
