A portable electric saw is used to cut through a wooden log. What happens to the pitch of the sound from the saw as the blade cuts farther into the log? Why?
The pitch increases as you cut into the wood. This is is due to the amount of wood being made to vibrate by the saw getting progressively slightly smaller and smaller.
