Egypt's rulers had more power because they told the citizens they were the sons of gods they worshipped and the people worshipped them
Because they where monarchy otherwise known as kings/Queens and so forth. They had religious beliefs that they told their people which gave them more power or otherwise. As for Today we have laws and so on as they did back then but I believe that they are more complex now ;)
