The War between England and Spain were a series of attacks and counter attacks which occurred but were not duly declared.

    Philip II decided to sail up through the English channel and link up with King  of Parma, in the process, they were to invade and defeat England and bring the English under catholic rule.

   In the process of the assault, two Spanish ships (The Rosario and the San Salvador) was blown up and there was heavy loss of life. This was despite the Spanish maintaining a very difficult formation which the English found impenetrable.

       The English employed the use of fireships to distort the Spanish Amarda. Although the Spanish ships were not set on fire, their formation was greatly disorganized.

       

The next day which was the fiercest battle of all, the wind changed in the afternoon and the Spanish ships were blown off the sandbar towards the direction of the North Sea. Without the support  from the King of Parma and the loss of their  anchorage, Medina Sidonia who led the Spanish Armada  aimed  to bring the remains back to Spain.

This defeat by England ended Spain's dominance of the seas.
