1st hour Science discoveries Many science discoveries were made and there have been many scientific achievements in the 1940's. Some achievement's are when Charles E. Jaeger broke through the sound barrier. Unfortunately he did not make it and passed away. Another is when the transitor a mini-hand held radio was created Some discoveries are when Barbara Mclintock discover transposition. Later on in the 1980's she received a Nobel peace prize for her discoveries.. Lastly the "Big Bang" theory was formulated and changed the way people looked at how the earth became.
