Sieur de La Salle was a French Explorer and trader(fur) in 17th century who lead an expedition in the Mississippi rivers and reached the Gulf of Mexico and declared the region for the French Empire and named it 'La Louisiane', which we today knew as Louisiana. La Salle also established an alliance with Native American Tribes in upper areas of Mississippi river.
