The five important steps of the phosphorus cycle include these below:
1. Erosion of rocks release phosphate
2. That phosphate was used by Plants and fungi
3. Now through food chain phosphorus moves from producers to consumers, like herbivore followed by carnivores
4. through the excretion by consumers, released phosphate returned to soil and decomposed. now phosphorous again released to the environment.
5. When erosion of rock occur again, the cycle begins.
What is phosphorus cycle ?
As we know phosphorous is fixed component of biomolecule such as DNA and RNA, also important part of ATP.
It is a biogeochemical process involves the cyclical event of phosphorus through the lithosphere, hydrosphere and biosphere.
Phosphorus cycle is a very slow process as it has sedimentary reservoir accessed by slow-moving process only.
However, now a days this cycle is disrupting by the interference of human activities leads to pollution.
