The primary goal of replicating a study is to determine if the results of the original study can be reproduced. If the results can be reproduced, it speaks to the validity of the original study.

The other goal is to determine if these results can be applied to other subjects and in other circumstances. The hope is that the results of a successful study can in some way be generalized and applied to a larger population.
