A scale drawing of a lake has a scale of 1 cm to 80 m. If the actual width of the lake is 1000 m, what is the width of the lake on the scale drawing? Explain or show your reasoning.

Answer:

The scale would be 12.5 centimeters

Step-by-step explanation:

It’s pretty easy

since it’s 1 cm to 80m there’s two ways to solve this but the fastest way is to find the unit rate of the scale

So 1000m/80m to find the cm

so the answer would be 12.5cm.

Check: 12.5 (80)=1000m is correct

The easier way but longer way is to create a proportion

so let’s do cm/m

so 1cm/80m

then write a proportion

1cm/80m=X cm/1000m

Cross multiply and you’ll get 1000=80x

solve the equation and you’ll get 12.5cm also

(remeber don’t change the way if the centimeter is the numerator the the second fraction, the centimeter is also the numerator same with the meters where if it’s the denominator then the other fraction is also a denominator)

prob 12.3 cm sorry if I’m wrong btw i tried
