A kangaroo hops a distance of 2 kilometers in 3 minutes at a constant speed.

a. At this speed, how long will it take the kangaroo to travel 5 kilometers?
b. At this speed, how far does the kangaroo travel in 2 minutes?

Respuesta :

Hello!

A)  First, we need to make these as an equate.

2km/3 min = 5 km/ x

Now, we have to solve for x by cross multiplying. SO! 5(3) = 2x. This becomes 15 = 2x. When you solve for x you get 7.5 minutes. Or 7 minutes and 30 seconds.

B) To solve for 2 minutes, we just write a new equation.
2 km/ 3 min = x/ 2 min

Now we cross multiply again! 3x= 4. When you solve for x, you get 1 1/3 km or 1.33 (repeating) km.
