Next, break down 12. This can be factored into 3 x 4.
Next, 4 can be factored into 2 x 2.
After you have broken down each number to it's smallest multiple, make the multiples into one equation.
For this example it would be:
144
12 x 12
3 x 4 x 3 x 4
3 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 2 x 2
