The human eye and brain together translate light into color. Light receptors within the eye transmit messages to the brain, which produces the familiar sensations of color.
We have rods and cones in our retinas, rods are responsible for low light vision, (scotopic vision). Cones activate at a higher light levels (photopic vision), and are capable of color vision.
