How did the object of study in psychology change over the history of the field since the 19th century? Behaviorists studied objectively observable behavior partly in reaction to the psychologists of the mind who were studying things that were not directly observable.
With the passage of time, there is a change in the concept of psychology. It was shifted towards the scientific study of behavior. Before the 19th century, it was defined as the study of the mind or the mental process that was also in a scientific way.
What is psychology?
When a person is examined or studied on the basis of the functioning of the mind, nature, or behavior, that study or the examination is known as psychology. In simple words, the study of an individual is conducted to know more effectively or can be said as in a better way, certain criteria have been fixed by the examiner.
It was Wilhelm Wundt, who is responsible or can be said as the father of psychology. In psychology, each individual is considered different from others and because of this psychology has been divided into four categories. They are cognitive, forensic, social, and developmental psychology.
Thus, the criteria involve the study of mind and behavior, and that also in a scientific manner is psychology.
