If [tex]y=\frac{x}{2}+1[/tex] then [tex]y_{\perp}=-2x+1[/tex].

The slope in first line is [tex]1/2=0.5[/tex], therefore the slope of perpendicular line must be [tex]-1/0.5=-2[/tex].
