An object is held 24.8 cm from a lens of focal length 16.0 cm. What is the magnification of the image?

Respuesta :

Answer:

Magnification is 1.8

Explanation:

Given data

object distance  u = 24.8 cm

focal length f= 16 cm

image distance v= ?

In other to solve for the magnification we have to solve for the image distance

The mirror formula is

[tex]\frac{1}{v} +\frac{1}{u}= \frac{1}{f} \\[/tex]

Substituting we have

[tex]\frac{1}{v} +\frac{1}{24.8}= \frac{1}{16} \\\\\frac{1}{v}= \frac{1}{16} -\frac{1}{24.8}\\\\\frac{1}{v}=\frac{24.8-16}{396.8}= \frac{8.8}{396.8}= \frac{1}{45}\\\\v= 45cm[/tex]

The magnification is

[tex]m= \frac{v}{u}\\\m= \frac{45}{24.8}\\\\m= 1.8[/tex]

The answer that my online curriculum said was correct was: —1.81
