Well catalase is an enzyme which breaks down hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. It does so by way of a decomposition reaction. Since catalase is a enzyme it lowers the activation energy or the amount of energy needed for a reaction to occur. At the same time it increases energy as it decomposes hydrogen peroxide into its constituents by breaking bonds. Thats why when you put hydrogen peroxide on a wound not only does it tickle when the bubbles start to form but you also notice it gets warm from the release of energy as heat.
