Two-thirds of those interned in the US between 1942 and 1945 were Japanese citizens. This happened after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, which prompted the US to join the WWII. As a result of this, many Japanese people living in America were confined because of the actions of their mother country. Between 110,000 and 120,000 Japanese people were incarcerated in camps at the time.
