Please help me with this question, if you can! :)
Your teacher has 4.0 L of a 15% (v/v) solution of sulfuric acid in water. What will the volume of the solution be if it is diluted to 10% (v/v)?

Respuesta :

Answer: The volume of the solution be if it is diluted to 10% (v/v) is 6.0 L

Explanation:

According to the dilution law,

[tex]C_1V_1=C_2V_2[/tex]

where,

[tex]C_1[/tex] = concentration of pure acid solution = 15 %

[tex]V_1[/tex] = volume of pure acid solution = 4.0 L

[tex]C_2[/tex] = concentration of diluted acid solution= 10%

[tex]V_2[/tex] = volume of diluted acid solution= ?

Putting in the values we get:

[tex]15\times 4.0=10\times V_2[/tex]

[tex]V_2=6.0L[/tex]

Thus the volume of the solution be if it is diluted to 10% (v/v) is 6.0 L
