A chef is going to use a mixture of two brands of Italian dressing. The first brand contains 6% vinegar, and the second brand contains 11 % vinegar. The chef wants to make 280 milliliters of a dressing that is 9% vinegar. How much of each brand should she use?

The difference between the 6% difference and the 11% = 5%. You want a total of 9%. That is 3% more then the first brand and 2% less then the second brand. This gives you that 3/5 of the dressing has to be brand 1 and 2/5 has to be brand 2. So (280 ml : 5) x 3 makes 168 ML of the first brand and 112 ML of the second brand. I think.
