Either that, or a rodent may have come into close contact with a person. A few examples of this are bites and scratches from infected rodents. The mortality rate can be anywhere from 5-36%. In 1990, the first vaccine was developed to fight the Hantan River virus, possibly an early form of Hantavirus. However, as of 2012, no vaccine has been developed against American or European strains of HantaVirus.
