The oxygenated blood is then carried back to the heart by the pulmonary vein and enters the top-left chamber of the heart called the left atrium. This blood then flows into the left ventricle which pumps the blood into the aorta which carries oxygenated blood to all the other parts of the body.

Arteries are responsible for carrying this blood from the human heart. The veins on their own part carry blood that has been depleted of oxygen back to the heart.
