Scout would also have been surprised by the way songs were sung at this church, and by the fact that the pursuit of money for the collection bowl was somewhat aggressive. Last, the experience surprises Scout because she realizes that Calpurnia is different when she is away from the Finch household.

Fourthly, Scout found the way in which they sung the hymns strange, due to the prior realization that they had no hymn-books.
