x + 54 and 5x are complementary angles, adding to 90 degrees.

x + 54 + 5x = 90

6x = 36

x = 6

x is not 6 degrees; the degree sign is separate from the x.  x is just 6.  Whoever wrote this question should go back to school and learn some math.   These questions should be deked into the dustbin of history; it's somebody's harebrained idea that the students need to practice their algebra during geometry or they'll forget it by next year.   There are plenty of great ways to combine algebra and geometry; this isn't one of them.

Answer: 6

Answer:

x = 6°

Step-by-step explanation:

5x° + x° + 54° = 90°

6x + 54 = 90

6x = 90 - 54

6x = 36

x = 36/6

x = 6°
