Alex thought about his hunger while he guided the skiff down the river. It had been three
days since he had eaten. His stomach stopped hurting after the first day, but he could feel
his body wasting away. Cameron sat on the back of the boat and let Alex do all of the work.
Cameron opened some rations in his poncho during the times that Alex slept. He ate them
