In "Warriors Don't Cry",
On Melba’s way home from junior high, the day Brown v Board of Education was announced in May of 1954, she:
1) Was attacked by a white man who tried to assault her.
2) Hid behind a bush until it was dark, too afraid to walk home because of rioting
3) Got into a fight with several white kids over segregation.
4) Saw a parade in the black neighborhood celebrating victory over segregation.
