The era between 1450 and 1750 saw the appearance of several land-based empires who built their power on the use of gunpowder: the Ottomans and the Safavids in Southwest Asia, the Mughals in India, the Ming and Qing in China, and the new Russian Empire. The spread of gunpowder was possible through the Trans-Saharan trade route as well as a silk road trade route. Although, goods and services weren't the only things that were passed along on these trade routes. Cultures, new belief systems, and religion played a huge impact on the surrounding empires.
Take for example the Mughal Empire, this was a nomadic group from Central Asia that also eventually controlled parts of Southern Asia. The Mughals encouraged long-distance trade which helped to not only increase their empire but allowed for a stronger government. A stronger government that meant better-controlled bureaucracies that forced migration and eventually the conversion of individuals' cultures and religion. The Silk Road covered a vast majority of this empire, so when merchants and traders would come along these trade routes, and eventually settle in the empire to sell at the market or port centers, they would converse with people from different cultures. This would ultimately set a precedent for new beliefs and cultures as most would be open to the new ideas and structures. Some of the main cultures and beliefs in the Mughal Empire was the Islamic religion as well as Hindu beliefs and education.
Religion, and its following cultures, were a major part of an empire's development and power over its people. In the period circa 1450, while Islam continued to spread around the Indian Ocean, Muslim dominated trade, and many regions gave way to European control. As a result, there were often many wars over different doctrines and beliefs. As the constant pull of dominating cultures and religions took place, many towns, cities, and societies expanded or revived from the increase of migrating religious practices. The challenges to the power and influence of the Catholic Church in Europe and some parts of Western Asia opened the door to attitudes of new sciences, politics, and an increase of Christian denominations. Europe monarchs began centralizing authority, which eventually led to absolutist regimes. In Central and Southern Asia, reforms of the Islamic culture and Hindu and Buddist structures along with educational practices led to the growth of these religions in their surrounding regions.
Overall, the migration of people, whether by force or choice, through trade routes helped boost the interaction between societies and their cultures. These actions all led to the growth of new religions, socialization, educational systems, and even the growth and fall of many empires.
hope this helped!
