Reconquista is the name in English of the period when the completed conquest of Granada ended up being the context of the Spanish voyages of discovery and conquest. That because Christopher Columbus received royal support in Granada in 1492, just a few months after its conquest. From there, so began the era of the imperial Portugal and Spain on the conquered lands of the New World.
