What would happen if meiosis did not occur?

Maybe the human would be tetraploid instead of diploid(in the first generation) because we would get for each chromosomtyp 2 Chromosoms of the mother and 2 Chromosoms of the father.  In the second generation he would be octoploid and so go on (it's just a idea, I'm not sure)

Meiosis is a process of cell division in which sexual cells or gametes are formed

If Meiosis did not occur, there would be no production of gametes. Which mean that there would be no Reproduction
