Causes: most of the time, head injuries are normally caused by car/motorcycle accident (or any other type of moving vehicle), falls, physical fights, or sports-related accidents.
Symptoms: after a minor head injury you may notice a headache, lightheadedness, a spinning sensation, mild confusion, nausea or temporary ringing in the ear. A major head injury may result in a loss of consciousness, seizures, vomiting, balance or coordination problems, serious disorientation, inability to focus the eyes, a loss of muscle control, mood changes, etc. (if you have signs of loss of consciousness, confusion or disorientation, you should definately see a doctor!)
Treatment: the treatment of a head injury really relies on both the type and the severity of the head injury which in these cases you may be resommended to simply take tylenol for the pain. One important thing to know though is that you shouldn't take any anti-inflammatory medicines sich as Ibuprofen or Asprin because this can make any of the bleeding worse since these are technically considered blood thinners (that is if you have a cut on your head).
- No matter how minor the accident, you should always keep an eye to make sure that you aren't showing any major injuries.
