The American President Abraham Lincoln was in office from 1861 through 1865, two of the Acts he enacted were A) The Homestead Act and C) The Morrill Land-Grant Colleges Act ,
The Homestead Act, signed in 1862, aimed to accelerate the western territory settlement (The Great Plains) by giving adult men citizens, including black men, the possibility to acquire 160 acres with the condition to pay a minimal filing fee and continuously reside for 5 years in the land.
The Morrill Act, or the Land Grant College Act, was also a bill signed by Lincoln in 1862 that granted certain lands to the states so they can sell them and raise funds to establish "land-grant" colleges with the purpose of educating people in agriculture, home economics, mechanical arts, science, military science, engineering and other professions that were practical at the time.
